Harris Welles received his BS degree in Design from Clemson University in 1981 and a postgraduate degree in Advertising Photography from Portfolio Center in 1983 before moving to New York City.  There he worked for 12 years, the first 4 as a freelance assistant to dozens of top photographers, traveling and learning.  Once he struck out on my own, he produced a wide variety of dynamic images for clients and publications such as AT&T, RCA Records, Simon & Schuster, Creativity Magazine, Kodak, numerous ad agencies and top design firms.

In April 1990, Harris was recognized as one of the top “photographers on the rise” by AdvertisingAge Magazine.  He has won awards from Advertising Photographers of America, Photo District News, and Agfa Corporation.  His work has appeared in such highly acclaimed publications as Communication Arts, Graphis, PDN, and Germany’s Color Photo.  His work has been displayed in New York City’s Limner Gallery, and Gallery 84 among others.

Harris left NYC in 1996 with his wife Rebecca, an award-winning graphic designer, and returned to his hometown of Raleigh, NC.  He established a successful stock photography business and licensed usage of his images, while adding two beautiful children to his list of achievements.  Harris continues to produce and market his images, and custom print for select clients.

In Fall of 2013, Harris and his son Evan began flying quadcopters to capture aerial photos and videos for an assortment of clients in real estate, advertising, and event productions.
